GOOD NEWS!
w453 is having a guitar/worship class, and our very own cell group leader, Edwin Ong, will be our guitar teacher!! -screams- Edwin wants to inspire aspiring guitarist and worshippers to not only learn the guitar but also to love &enjoy God's presence!

The lessons will be held every Saturday at 12.30pm at church, starting this week, 24th July Saturday! There'll be a total of 10lessons. &please bring your own guitars! do sign up with your connect group leaders today! see you there!!

It's (almost) the end of all exams.

We've decided to let down our hairs to have a fun and different fellowship after CG this week.

And also allow myself to play with my mbrs before I depart from them to Aust *sobz.. reall miss them already..

A few of us studied at Science Centre Mac today.
Was at West Mall coffee bean on Mon. Was loud and noisy and unproductive and therefore wanted to try a new environment.
Of cuz, i suggested this place. Used to study here with Wei Jian (those that know him, he just got his driving license. PTL!)

However... as Anna and I were studying, Zach and Trist went out for a break too long.
They came back drenched and tired..
So I asked them where did they go.
They replied, jumping..
Play with water?
I went out with them and filmed everything down under the drizzle (check out video)

boys having fun. haha... i still commended them that they certainly dun look like Sec 2s. but after seeing them play, i changed my mind. lol..

all wet! haha... wait till u see how chung and i played under the rain.
can ask angel yap, wendy and anna.

NEVER MESS WITH CHILDREN

A little girl was talking to her teacher about whales.
The teacher said it was physically impossible for a whale to swallow a human because even though it was a very large mammal its throat was very small.
The little girl stated that Jonah was swallowed by a whale.
Irritated, the teacher reiterated that a whale could not swallow a human; it was physically impossible.
The little girl said, 'When I get to heaven I will ask Jonah'.
The teacher asked, 'What if Jonah went to hell?'
The little girl replied, 'Then you ask him'.

A Kindergarten teacher was observing her classroom of children while they were drawing. She would occasionally walk around to see each child's work.
As she got to one little girl who was working diligently, she asked what the drawing was.
The girl replied, 'I'm drawing God.'
The teacher paused and said, 'But no one knows what God looks like.'
Without missing a beat, or looking up from her drawing, the girl replied, 'They will in a minute.'

A Sunday school teacher was discussing the Ten Commandments with her five and six year olds.
After explaining the commandment to 'honour' thy Father and thy Mother, she asked, 'Is there a commandment that teaches us how to treat our brothers and sisters?'
Without missing a beat one little boy (the oldest of a family) answered, 'Thou shall not kill.'

One day a little girl was sitting and watching her mother do the dishes at the kitchen sink. She suddenly noticed that her mother had several strands of white hair sticking out in contrast on her brunette head.
She looked at her mother and inquisitively asked, 'Why are some of your hairs white, Mum?'
Her mother replied, 'Well, every time that you do something wrong and make me cry or unhappy, one of my hairs turns white.'
The little girl thought about this revelation for a while and then said, 'Mummy, how come ALL of grandma's hairs are white?'

The children had all been photographed, and the teacher was trying to persuade them each to buy a copy of the group picture.
'Just think how nice it will be to look at it when you are all grown up and say, 'There's Jennifer, she's a lawyer,' or 'That's Michael, He's a doctor.'
A small voice at the back of the room rang out, 'And there's the teacher, she's dead.'

A teacher was giving a lesson on the circulation of the blood. Trying to make the matter clearer, she said, 'Now, class, if I stood on my head, the blood, as you know, would run into it, and I would turn red in the face.'
'Yes,' the class said.
'Then why is it that while I am standing upright in the ordinary position the blood doesn't run into my feet?'
A little fellow shouted,

The children were lined up in the cafeteria of a Catholic elementary school for lunch. At the head of the table was a large pile of apples. The nun made a note, and posted on the apple tray:

GOOD COMMUNICATION=GOOD RELATIONSHIP

yepps. think! i was actually talking to my friend the other day when we happened to come to this topic. alot of people actually say the wrong things . one incident my friend mentioned which both of us felt quite strongly about. a guy said to a girl, "when do you have your pms?"

yeaps. that's how important thinking is. as the old chinese saying goes, "三思而行"[ in english, "think before you act") the same goes for talking!

what you say and how you communicate makes a huge difference in how people respond to you. your words can take you places, or it can come back to haunt you when you least expect it.

communication plays a big role in building relationships.

what you say, or perhaps, just the way you say it may hurt a person, unknowingly. you may go, "i didn't mean to hurt you.". but what's come out of your mouth, cannot be taken back. if you really did not mean to hurt that person, why couldn't you be more thoughtful before you let the words out of you lips?

some of us may even say, "i'm just stating facts.". yepps, but the truth is not always pleasant. we have to know who we're talking to, and how to hint to that person, or break the news gently. being honest and blunt is not always useful.

communication is an art.

so guys! let's all make an attempt to develop this seed from the bottom of our hearts ya? it's not only for the benefit of the cellgroup, but for yourself! for what harm does it do to have more good friends around you? it does always feel good to have friends you can lean upon in times of need. so let's all build good relationships with one another ya? unity will begin to prosper in our cellgroup!

yesterday night we went for
PRAYER 365 !
man it was great ! ! !
now lets hear from some of our members how prayer365 have been to them.

KUOXUAN: This prayer meeting really helped me to strengthen my prayer language and inspire me greatly to be more active in reaching out to others and grow to be a better christian. and i believe that it can really impact others the same way it did for me, and that it can also allow us to be more bonded as a cell group when we bless and pray for each other.

RACHEL: I feel that the prayer meeting was really very good. it's really an opportunity for us to train up our spirit man together, as a Cell Group. it's also a place where we can learn from each other, and improve our prayers. i feel that it has really bonded the cell group more in a way. because a Cell Group that prays together, stays together. i really feel deeply impacted, and want to do so much more for the Cell Group.

GARY: Prayer 365 was great today. To be able to pray together as a cell group certainly builds unity among the members. We'll be able to know where the Cell Group is flowing and pray for each other. Just like a family i look forward to praying together with the Cell Group again =).

i believe that those that went for prayer365 yesterday was greatly blessed
so those that did not go yesterday,
you missed out one great opportunity to pray.
the good news is there are more prayer meetings coming up !

it's the first day of school after the june hols for most of us! XD

i know alot of you feel tired, and are still in the holiday mood!

time to wake up!!! XD let's really all get geared up for this new term ahead of us ya? this next half of the year shall be better than the last half of the year!

bt in order for that to happen, WE gotta make tat happen! so friends! let's really get ready for school and shine for God in all areas ya? we shall be the head and not the tail!

we may have done badly for the last semester.. bt fret not! this next semester WILL definitely be better!

let's all really grow more, both in our studies and spiritually ya? not only will we study hard, we'll pray hard too!

let me share with you something he shared with us today!
the first place they went was the children's church
the most touching thing was
the kids there are only four or five years old!
and guess what
they are already on their knees
praising the Lord with all their heart !
some had tears in their eyes .
to them God is really someone who cares for them and they just want to praise Him
tho some of them were ophans ,
they receive more than enough love from God.
great is the Lord!
if four five years old children can do it
how abt the us youths?

Woahs..

It has been real long since any1 posted here huhs. XD it's okay! i shall be the one to save to blog! XD

well, anws, i gt a revelation, n i felt the urge to share it with you guys.. lols.. it's not a revelation tat asked me to revive this blog.. XD but rather, revive the cell group.. i'm not saying that it's really dead.. but attendance have been pretty low.. both on mbrs n on frens.. so yah.. i was praying just now, about this burden i have for th cell group..

what i realised is that sometimes, in life, things are just right in front of us.. we know that we're supposed to do something, to go for something.. to go get this particular thing.. but we don't see it, even though it's right in front of us.. and as time passes, these things that're so important, jus pass by our lives, unchanged.. some may come back.. but others may not..

it's just like in th game of "Bejeweled".. you're supposed to look for that particular jewel.. however your mouse sweeps over so many possible chances.. yet not knowing that they're even there..

this is similar to our lives. sometimes, oppurtunities, like diamonds, are placed right in front of us.. potential friends, etc.. but our eyes just sweep past them, not even noticing them there.. what we all just have to do, is to be that little more fervent, more alert, and we'll spot it.. then we won't be complaining that we can't invite any friends..

so, let's all not sit back n relax anymore! this is not only about the leaders, but every single one of you out there.. be it that you're still very new, or one that has been with us for quite some time already.. let's all be strong warriors for our Lord Jesus ya? let's all reach out our hands and grab these oppurtunities! no more laziness! no more procrastination! no more tiredness! no more excuses! because we know, if we're fervent enough, God will help us make it come to pass!

so friends! let's all pray & fast frevently together ya? a mighty harvest is yet to come upon W453! XD

Group E isn't about to make showcase their talents, make a production or do dime-stops.
However, all of us being slightly more mature in age, has thought of bringing some knowledge to the cell group, wherefore bore forth this brain child of ours - Christianity Fact Mania.

Did you know that there is a Christian Angelic Hierachy in heaven?

The Assumption of the Virgin, showing three hierarchies, and nine orders of angels, each with different characteristics.

If you would look at this picture carefully, you would see Three Spheres of Angels on the sky in the background.

The First Sphere consists of the Seraphim, the Cherubim, Erelim, and they function mainly as heavenly guardians of God's throne.

Seraphs belong to the highest order, or angelic choir, of the hierachy. They are said to be the caretakers of God's throne, continuously singing Kadosh, Kadosh, Kadosh, which means "holy, holy, holy. "Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord of Hosts, the whole earth is full of His Glory" - Isaiah 6:3. This chanting is referred to as the Trisagon. They are identified by their iconic 6 wings and light radiating from their face.
Trivia: the word "Seraphic" originated from them!

Cherubs are only next to the Seraphim. Contrary to popular belief, biblical prophet Ezekiel describes the cherubim as a tetrad of living creatures, each having four faces: of a lion, an ox, an eagle, and a man, rather than having a pudgy face an miniature body (therefore be mindful when you use the word "Cherubic").

The Second Sphere consists of the Dominions, Virtues, Power, and they function mainly as heavenly governors.

The Third Sphere consists of the Principalities, Archangels, Angels, and they function mainly as heavenly messengers and soldiers.

Michael the Archangel.

Archangels are the highest ranking angels. Most of us have heard of Michael the archangel. There is actually a system of 7 archangels which are Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, Uriel, Raguel, Zerachiel and Remiel.

Angels are the ones that we are most familiar with. They are most concerned with the affairs of living things and are sent as messengers to humankind.

Did you know that Christianity and Catholicism are very much different?

Catholicism and Biblical Christianity are divergent religions.

They are built on different foundations, and they propose different ways of salvation. In principle, Christianity is built solely on the Holy Scriptures, the written Word of God. The Bible is our only infallible rule of faith, being sufficient to give us the sure knowledge of the Gospel for our salvation and holiness. Roman Catholicism demands submission of the intellect and will to the doctrines taught by the Roman magisterium (the Pope and bishops).

As expected, since the foundations are different, so also are the edifices built upon them. Christianity stands on the Gospel of God's sovereign grace. In love, God predestines His chosen ones to be adopted as sons through Jesus Christ, their sole mediator. The Son became man and gave His life as a ransom to secure their freedom from sin. Being dead in sin, they are completely unable to convert ourselves or merit God's favour. Therefore God graciously grants His people repentance and faith to turn to Him and trust in Christ Jesus for salvation. Believers are accepted in Christ, solely on the merit of His righteousness and blood, and not because of any goodness or human merit. God also resides in His people by the Holy Spirit, enabling them to obey and glorify the Father, and to guarantee their inheritance in heaven forever.

Roman Catholicism's "gospel" is not good news at all. The Roman institution, calling itself "The Church", usurps Christ's mediatorial office, proclaiming herself as the "sacrament of salvation." The "Church" dispenses salvation to her faithful in small portions, starting at baptism and continuing throughout life. Forgiveness can only be obtained through the sacrament of penance. The benefits of Christ's sacrifice are accessible through the sacrifice of the Mass. Instead of teaching the faithful to rest in Christ by faith, Catholics are taught to perform religious works to "merit grace" and to do penance to make satisfaction. Even after death, Catholics remains dependent on the "Church" to relieve their suffering in Purgatory by masses and indulgences.
See the very fundamental differences here?

Did you know that Christianity and Islam are disparate religions, albeit sharing some roots of the Abrahamic faith?

Christianity and Islam, though closely related in some aspects, are quite different from each other. Their theological differences have caused quite a stir between religious leaders and their followers.

The faith of Muslims is based on the works of accomplishing the five pillars of Islam. Christianity, on the contrary, it based on faith that people can be freed from their sin by the blood of Christ Jesus. The most significant difference is the pillar that admonishes "There is no God but Allah and Muhammed is his prophet". Muhammed specified that God does not have a son. Because of this, there is no redemption from sin in Islam. Salvation comes by works which never carry an assurance of being good enough unless one were to die for Allah.

Christianity, on the other hand, follows the Lord God of Israel. Christians believe that God sent His Son to Earth to be the atonement for sin. The entire Bible is focused on the gospel, meaning “good news.” To be a Christian, there is no need to eat a certain type of food, visit a certain place, die in a Jihad, or meticulously follow some sort of ritual washing or prayer. On the contrary, all a person needs to do is accept the forgiveness of Jesus Christ. The Great Commission to all Christians states, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Matthew 28:18-20, NKJV.

In conclusion, Islam and Christianity are very different, not only do they focus on different aspects, but they also worship entirely different gods. It is so good to know that abundant life and salvation does not rest on the human ability to do good works. Salvation is a gift that can never be lost, nor does it expire or become invalid once you do something wrong.

Group E earnestly hope that you will benefit from what we have shared and grew in knowledge! Ignorance, albeit a bliss, is never good. As followers of Christ, we need to be equipped fully in knowledge!

242: Change of route

Dear all,

New and Amended Bus Routes for Jurong West Residents.
From Sunday, 15 March 2009, Jurong West residents can look forward to a new service – Service 241 – while the route of an existing service – Service 242 – will be amended to offer better connectivity to the new Pioneer MRT station as well as a faster link to the Boon Lay Bus Interchange.

Route Amendment for Service 242
Service 242 currently operates from Boon Lay Interchange and provides connection to Jalan Boon Lay, Jurong West Street 72, Street 91 and Street 92 and Jurong West Avenues 4 and 5. It loops at Street 91 on its return trip. The route will be amended to turn back at Street 71 instead to serve residents heading to the Interchange with a shorter travel time. The frequency, operating hours and fares for this feeder service shall remain unchanged.

New Bus Route – Service 241
With the amendment to the route of Service 242, residents in Neighbourhood 9, along Street 91 and 92 will be served by the new Service 241 which will provide a direct and convenient connection to the Pioneer MRT Station as well as a faster route to the Boon Lay Interchange. Taiwanese star Van Ness Wu finds God and looks to celibacy to start afresh

One of the pieces in Taiwanese American singer-actor Van Ness Wu's new jewellery line is called the Chastity Belt. And the 31-year-old Taiwanese singer-actor says the piece - a ring designed to be worn on two fingers - is a current reflection of his life.
Van Ness, a Christian, claims he has given up his playboy ways and wants to focus on religion.
He told TNP: "One of the things that I felt was keeping me from God was sex. So I told myself, let's just stop that right now."
Van Ness was in town yesterday to promote his latest movie Kung Fu Chefs, which co-stars HK actor Sammo Hung and Japanese actress Kago Ai.
In the movie, which opens in cinemas today, he plays Ken, a martial arts foreign exchange student who loves cooking.
The actor, best known for being one-fourth of one of Taiwan's hottest boy bands, F4, said he has made a decision to remain celibate. He has even changed the spelling of his name - from Vaness to Van Ness - the spelling of the road he was named after in his hometown of Los Angeles. And it's not only his name that has changed. He confessed that at the peak of his careers in F4, he had led a life of "fast cars and one night stands."
Van Ness broke into showbiz in 2001, when he was cast with other F4 members - Jerry Yen, Vic Chou and Ken Chu - in the highly successful 2001 Taiwanese idol drama, Meteor Garden.
He said his fame and fortune resulted in him losing his sense of self. Van Ness, who has been linked to Taiwanese starlet Vivian Hsu and Jap singer Aisa Senda, explained: "There were days when I thought, 'how did I even get here?' I was concerned with the millions of dollars needed to buy a big house. I felt insecure and empty." The actor said he put his fast life behind him at the beginning of last year when he returned to the US. He said spending time with his family and not thinking about work made him "more grounded". Van Ness had given up his job as a telemarketer and moved to Taiwan seven years ago to pursue a career in entertainment. His mother, sister ans niece still live in the US. But Van Ness said his new perspective on life didn't happen overnight.
"I have been a Christian for the past seven years but have I really lived up to that? I asked myself that and the answer was clear. Now I'm a changed man." Van Ness, attributes his renewed belief in religion as having helped him when he was down. He recalled how he felt lost when he moved to Taiwan as a 24-year-old. He said he was turned down a few times by numerous record labels and had turned to prayer to ask "for a miracle". Before he knew it, he was cast in Meteor Garden and became part of one of the hottest boy bands in Asia. F4 went on to release three albums and was the first foreign artiste to hold seven consecutive concerts in Japan, breaking the records of Taiwanese and HK pop sensations Jay Chou and Faye Wong. Their group albums combined have sold more than eight million copies worldwide. Van Ness, who has three solo albums to his name - his latest offering titled In Between released in July last year, has starred in movies such as Star Runner and Three Kingdoms: Resurrection Of The Dragon and Dragon Squad.

A different dream

Ironically, Van Ness confessed that he had never wanted to be part of a boy band. His initial goal, when he made the trip to Asia, was to do TV and film. He added that at the height of his career, he felt stifled by his management company, Fu Long, which he said dictated his image and choice of work. Van Ness said: "I'm not the type of person who likes to be confined. I wanted to do the music that I love, not something which the record company thinks will make money." But don't call him ungrateful. Van Ness said he's happy for the path that being in F4 has paved for him and the "roller-coaster ride of his fame" was something that he had to live through and get out of his system. He has now signed on with a new management agency, BST Corp - which stands for Blood Sweat and Tears - a company which he founded with "people I trust". He plans to focus more on movies and TV dramas, but will also release a new solo album later this year. He also recently launched his jewellery line named 3VO7 (stands for the word "love" if the letters are flipped). Having designed all the pieces himself, he says that the collection is an art representation of where he is in life right now. For example, on a pendant named Heart Trap, which is shaped like a mousetrap, the words "save me" are inscribed behind - his personal message to God.
Van Ness said that he couldn't have done this two years ago because he wouldn't have been in the right frame of mind then. He said: "I wanted to make a statement with the pieces and I know people will listen. I used to be all about the bling. Now I am just about being positive and healing." .....

Isn't this cool? God used someone of fame, changed his life and use his testimony to inspire others. But more than being transformed, he uses his creativity to be a blessing to others and preached a msg of love. I think we can afford to do more to love people and pray that God will change them.
